AAU Junior Olympics

The last 3 days have been the AAU Olympics at UC Davis. I'm really upset about my camera and just as an FYI mostly to my husband.....will be in the market for a new Nikon in the next 6 months. My birthday would be a great time to get a new camera....it's my passion baby!!!!

Okay so anyway......The Dragons did really great and are coming together as a team. It was lots of fun ! HUGE Thanks to Coach for being such a great coach ! You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

We are putting together a group photo pool at flickr for all of our town basketball photos so when it's up and going I will let you all know.

how the weekend comes to a close

sunday night came and went but we had a nice ending to the weekend. Nothing says happiness like some eyebrow plucking in the perfect outdoor light. Some text messages to a good friend, sharing a glass of wine my hubby and then letting the kids do sparkler!!!!

time flies.......

Playing on the Dragons basketball team in 2005. He was 10 years old. This was up in basketball town in Sacramento.
Wolfie above at Basketball Town....Below Justin and Wolfie's buddy picture for the
town basketball team. I think this was in 4th or 5th grade ? Trina do you remember?
Here's the cute boys, both 12 and playing Dragons today at the AAU Junior Olympics!

Sweet Josh loves to be with the big boys.......of course he wants to be in the picture!!! :-)
Wolfie needed a trim on his perfect, surfer, feathered hair! Trying to play all these basketball games with his bangs in his eyes as he runs down the court is tough. Rob took him today.

Here's Wolfie on Saturday:

Here he is today after getting a little trim from Super Cuts and then a slight modification
from Dad when they got home !!

chillin

Hey it's the boys of summer (sorry had to rip the song title for this) and they were having fun and ended up getting some war paint on by the end of the night.

Lexi loves to be thrown in the pool.....here she is in action

Some serious dodge ball was going down in the trampoline. Alyssa was not afraid to just pummel the boys and show them that she's got game !

I love to just chill around the pool on the weekends. We had some great ribs, asparagus, bread, cantaloupe, salad and friends.......

There isn’t much better in this life than finding a way to spend a few hours in conversation with people you respect and love. You have to carve this time out of your life because you aren’t really living without it.

MAYA ANGELOU

Gwen........

Went last night with Lorraine and Salli and a bunch of kids (not my own) to see Gwen Stefani in Marysville. It was hot as heck and sweat was in places that well........YUCK!!!!!! Akon opened up and some other Lady something rapper chick. Gwen is cute as all get out and has a rockin body after having a kid......over all she didn't sing most of the songs that I really love. I did get some of it on my video phone and will have to find a way to post that.

The people watching was amazing to say the least......wow.........Thanks for a fun night Lori and Salli!!!!!

wow......flashback's can be freaky

Here's a great shot of my sister, her hubby and me. Got to love the 80's sweater and the hat. In the words of someone who's in jail and shall not be named....That's HOT !

This was at someone's wedding and I'm dancing with my brother in law, Stanton. I'm about 13 in this picture.
Here's my senior photos. Freaky and not even real looking.......it's hard to see it but the earrings I'm wearing in the sweater photo are little aligators....I loved anything preppy or Don Johnson'ish !

This is me about age 10 or 11...... I was with my friend Tricia. I think these hats were my sisters and brother in laws. They used to go out country dancing......

all roads lead to this moment..........

I have been going through all my old photos lately and it's been hilarious!!! I found a whole bunch from high school and decided to blog them. I call this set of photos "Ode to the Proms"

I think this was one of the first proms I ever went to. I was in 9th grade and it was a prom in Concord. I cut the guy out cause well.....yeah I was 14 and it just never worked out!! LOL This may have been one of the last sightings of me in the color pink.

So this was one of my junior year proms. I think this guys name was Peter and one of his cousins was in the band Devo....Whip It !!!!! The pic's a bit blurry but you get the idea. I love the Madonna inspired black lace gloves!!!!

Okay so here's my first "Faux I'm Getting Married" prom picture ! This is Matt or you can call him Mott if you want to speak his secret language. He was my boyfriend most all of my senior year of high school. He was a year older than me and went to UC Davis at the time...that rocked for me being a senior in high school.......He drove a blue pinto and every time I left the house with him, my mom thought the back end was going to explode!

One time he showed me how one could shift without really using the stick shift and he ended up breaking his stick shift all the way off and had to use pliers he found under his seat to try and shift ! Now that was a hilarious moment!!!! I'm happy to say he's moved up from the pinto and if you browse through my flickr photos I ran back into him at the May Fair this year while his band was there playing.

Aww the Sadie Hawkins Dance!!! Love the matching Hard Rock shirts!!!! The vibrant sweatshirts tied around our waist's completed the ensemble. Hey it was the 80's what can I say?
I love this picture for some reason. We were walking into the prom and they announced us. I was actually really being shy and embarrassed but you can see the look on Matt's face and he was ready to walk through the arch's!!!!

I have a few more photos for the trip down memory lane.........be patient fans be patient!!!! I need to get myself ready for a rockin concert tonight!!! Gywn Stefani and Akon!!! I'm going to try and live flickr tonight so turn in for live photos of the event!!!!!

I finally did the grotto!!!!

Okay so I'm a little bit embarassed to say that my son was part of the grotto before I got a chance. The north winds blew in my direction (so did the goddess of last bunco) and I was able to experience the "grotto". I have to say it was most fun!!! The owner of the grotto even made it more fun by swimming by me in a most "interesting" way. :-)

Double D have a great house and yard and I can't wait for more summer parties. I promise to bring my swim suit next time!!!!! :-)

EDITED SEVERAL DAYS LATER TO ADD: Thanks Lori for stealing my clothes that night and giving me a heartattack!!!!!!! :-) You were super feisty that night so it does not surprise me!!! LOL :-) Good times at bunco!!!!!!

Happy Fathers Day Rob!!!!

Many years ago I met this guy from a small town. He wore cowboy boots on occasion , brown leather jacket, red and green tennis shoes and drove this really strange VW bug around. He was one of the nicest guys I had ever met and didn't quite know what to make of that........A nice guy? What a concept. It took me from November 88 to Valentines Day 89 to really figure out that he was the real deal.....

We started dating, living together, getting engaged and then married. Through it all there was mullets, pierced ears, perms, really short shorts, colorful pants and lots of fun. Then there was me lots skinnier, bigger glasses and not just highlights but coloring the whole head of hair a strange red color for a while.........

Little did I know he would move me back to the small town and we would have two kids. When the kids were babies Rob had an infinite amount of patience for dealing with late nights, hungry babies, dirty diapers and co-sleeping with them in our bed. He even worried that the tags from the clothes would bug their tender skin and put Kleenex between the kids skin and their clothes at times to ensure no rubbing. (He really should of come up with the tagless idea so we could of re-tired....DAMN Hanes!!!) He also would sacrifice his own sunglasses or body to shield the babies from getting sun in their eyes when we were outside.

Rob never ever complained about getting up in the middle of the night or changing diapers. He was a great hands on dad when Wolfie and Lexi were babies. The first nights home from the hospital when Wolfie was born are some that I will always cherish. We were really overwhelmed with love, confusion on how to care for a baby and coming home with a c-section. Rob got up with me everytime Wolfie wanted to nurse, brought him to me and layed by me while he ate. It's times like those that I need to remember as him and our pre-teen are arguing over cleaning his room and taking care of his animals......it's the natural progression of life....

Rob loves to dress the kids in sweats and anything that's comfortable. Some of the combinations he comes up with are interesting but how can you fault someone for just wanting their kids to be comfortable.

Rob would always make sure Wolfie hair was done when he was little and still letting us help him with his hair. He looked just like his dad with the swoop over to the side with the gel. Wolfie's a mini Rob for sure!!!!

I have to give Rob lots of credit for being a sport. Living with me I'm sure can be quite a interesting ride. Even though he had a hard time mustering up a " Ohhh Ohhh" in the Orange County Airport (where NO ONE EVEN KNEW HIM) He still has a calm and quiet way about him. He loves the Lord and when you hear him play his guitar and sing you can see how pure his heart is.

As the kids grow older the patience that he had when they were babies gets tested a bit more. He really tries to be a great dad and does a great job. I like to keep him on his toes and sometimes just drop the balls in the air to see if he can catch them.......he catches most of them and if any of them fall he's just learned to let the other ones roll on.........

I love you Rob and hope you have a great Fathers Day!!!!!

great movie

Last night I finally sat down and put this movie in. I really liked it. It was a great little story and just right for the mood I was in. Rarely do I watch a movie that's got a great ending. Sometimes I just want a movie to end with a happy ending and not too much drama. Is that too much to ask ? LOL Notting Hill had a perfect ending for me.

I love how at the very end of the movie they are sitting on the bench in that lovely neighborhoos garden. She is pregnant and you can tell they are together and going to live happily ever after. I will be honest since the movie came out in 1999 I compare most movie endings to Notting Hill. I want completion of the characters and to see they are fine and in love. Of course real life can't be like this all the time so why not expect it in the movies? I have high hopes.

Jack Black's character was sweet and he wasn't too over the top in his usual "FUNNY AS ALL GET OUT STYLE" We love Jack Black around my house. Kate Winslet is always sweet and cute. Cameron Diaz bugs me just a bit and Jude Law was adorable in this movie. One of my favorite scenes is in the tent with Cameron, Jude and his kids......so sweet!!!!!

So go rent it if you haven't seen it yet!!!! I think I may even buy it......It will sit next to Notting Hill on the shelf.......

rob made great pasta Monday night and we ate outside. It was a beautiful night and the kids loved slurping up the noodles!!!!

Little Miss Kendall

Go DRAGONS!!!!!!!

Wolfie had a great tournament this weekend. Rob took him on Saturday and then stand in mom took him on Sunday......great games and you can check out Trina's blog for more info.

Poor Little Buddy

Wolfie had to get 3 shots the other day for going to junior high school. Monday night he was feeling fine and we were thinking okay no problem. Then he woke up Tuesday JACKED UP ! His neck and arm were killing him and he was running a low grade fever. Thrashed I say!!!! Pretty much laid on the couch all day and that's about it. I think he did manage to play Wii a little bit but I'm sure he scored pretty low cause he could not even lift his arm.

I'm happy to report he's feeling better this morning ! Yeah!!!!!
